In this workshop, students will learn about and experiment with natural dyeing by creating a okant dyed tie-dye organic cotton or silk bandana.
Natural dyeing is the ancient practice of extracting and depositing naturally derived pigment onto textiles, Dating as far back as the neolithic period (11th-10th centuries BCE), natural dyes have been extracted from plants, invertebrates, or minerals.
Not only are natural dyes fully sustainable and biodegradable, they offer a unique opportunity to embrace the colors and predictability of nature in a new and fascinating way.
